Arthur Fils appears to be relishing the opportunity to train with Rafael Nadal after he wanted a quality pre-season with the tennis star.
During the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah a few weeks ago – where he finished as runner up – the French tennis player revealed that the Spaniard had invited him to train together during pre-season in Kuwait.
A few days ago, former world number 1 tennis player Nadal arrived in Kuwait. Via Instagram Story, he uploaded a photo showing himself and the French tennis player on the court and added the caption, “Thank you, Arthur Fils.”

The 19 year old tennis player also reposted the upload and wrote, “Let’s have a quality pre-season.”
The tennis player, who won the ATP tournament title for the first time in his career in Lyon in the 2023 season before he was 19 years old, revealed that Nadal kindly invited him if he wanted to prepare for the 2024 season with him.
“He kindly invited me. I will give my all. I’ll try not to get too carried away with his forehand (smiles). I will make the most of it,” Fils told L’Equipe during the Next Gen ATP Finals.
After winning the title in Lyon, the French tennis player also finished runner up in Antwerp and qualified for the semifinals in Hamburg. He also finished the 2023 season with the highest ranking of his career to date, 36th in the world.
“I’ve had an amazing season. “I started this season ranked 250th in the world and now I am ranked 36th in the world,” said Arthur Fils at the Next Gen ATP Finals.
“That’s not bad. I can win here, I can have a better season, I lost some close games. I have gained a lot of experience and I will play even better next season. And I thought I had to learn how to handle finals, but I lost three finals this season. But I also progressed with my game and my mentality.”
We still have to wait to see whether training with Nadal will help the Frenchman raise his game to a new level ahead of the 2024 season.
