French club AS Monaco has reportedly taken a stance regarding Youssouf Fofana’s future. They are ready to sell the midfielder this summer.
Fofana can be said to be one of Monaco’s key players. Since he joined the team from Monte Carlo, he has become an irreplaceable figure in Monaco’s midfield.
This summer, there are two top European clubs who are interested in getting Fofana’s services. They are AC Milan and Manchester United who are said to want to bring in the player.
Reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Monaco has taken a stance regarding the midfielder’s position. They will sell Fofana this summer.
According to Di Marzio’s report, Fofana will definitely be sold by Monaco this summer.
This is because his contract at Monaco expires in 2025. The midfielder does not want to extend his contract until now.
So instead of releasing him as a free agent, the Ligue 1 club plans to cash in on the French national team player this summer.
The Paris native, who has been part of the Monégasque squad for the last four seasons, is part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 this summer.
It is understood that the French international is a target for both the Red Devils and the Rossoneri.
According to the report, Monaco has also set a selling price for Fofana this summer.
The 25 year old midfielder is rumored to be priced at 35 million Euros. Monaco considers the price reasonable for a player of Fofana’s caliber.
So currently the Ligue 1 club is waiting for official offers from Man United and AC Milan for the midfielder.
According to gossip currently circulating, Man United and AC Milan object to paying 35 million Euros for Fofana’s services this summer.
They consider the price to be too expensive for a player who has one season remaining on his contract. So they will negotiate with Monaco to lower the selling price.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth confirmed he could be a better deal than Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
It’s been an exciting start to the summer transfer window for United with INEOS stamping their authority at Old Trafford.
The team from the city of Manchester has made two new players, with Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro arriving.
With the signing of a striker and a centre-back, Erik ten Hag’s recruitment team will probably look for another player in midfield.
