Las Vegas welcomes its newest casino over the weekend and if you happen to visit this property you will feel as if you are in Macau. Lucky Dragon is the first new casino to be built from the group in Vegas since their ill-fated Cosmopolitan opened in 2010. This luxurious property is located on Sahara Avenue just off the Las Vegas strip and is scheduled to have its official grand opening on December 3. This property which includes a hotel and a casino has been in development for five years from concept to completion.
The Asian-themed casino resort opened its doors for the first time Saturday in a special soft opening. Lucky Dragon comes with 203 hotel rooms and a grand casino floor with nearly 300 slot machines and more than 30 table games. The resort is absolutely in sync with Las Vegas standards.
Chief Operating Officer of the Lucky Dragon, Dave Jacoby said: “We didn’t want to be a caricature of an Asian resort,” “Most of the other casinos here in Las Vegas are very large mega resorts trying to be all things to all people — we have a different approach here at Lucky Dragon.”
Lucky Dragon hopes to tap into the growing Asian tourism base here but to also attract locals with authentic cultural experience from the Asian cuisine to popular games. A Las Vegas local who attended the soft opening said: “I think this is the first casino in Vegas doing the Asian style … if you go to the casino floor, you see a lot of baccarat tables.”
The Lucky Dragon was opened keeping Asian tourists in mind and that is the reason every detail here takes into account even with the signage where the first language is Chinese while the second is English. Dave Jacoby said: “With our service standards, we try to make sure that we are putting the Asian cultures first and allowing the American cultures to follow behind.” To notice here The Lucky Dragon hotel elevator you won’t find the fourth floor. This is just because number four is considered unlucky and just doesn’t belong in a place called the Lucky Dragon.
Many regular casino and gambling enthusiasts are now waiting to visit the property on the formal opening on Dec 3 when they will get to experience perfect Asian hospitality.
