The victory in front of Atletico Madrid was shattered because Sevilla managed to equalise to 1-1 in the final minutes of the match. As a result, Atletico and Sevilla had to settle for sharing one point in the match week 37 of the 2021-2022 Spanish League, which ended on Monday (16/5/2022).
At first Atletico had been winning 1-0 since the 30th minute through the contribution of Jose Maria Gimenez and the score lasted until the 80’s minute. However, in the 85th minute Sevilla managed to score an equaliser thanks to Youssef En-Nesyri.
With the draw, Atletico became the team that lost the most because their chances of overtaking Barcelona in second place had disappeared. Now Atletico and Sevilla will fight for third place in the final weekend next weekend.
The course of the match
First round
Atletico Madrid tried to be able to control the ball since the game started. With fairly good passes, Los Rojiblancos also managed to control the game, with few opportunities.
After a bit of pressure, Sevilla tried to come back and appear more aggressive after 15 minutes of the match. Even so, Atletico did not want to lose their momentum and continued to try to attack.
After several attempts, Atletico finally managed to take the lead in the 30th minute which was created by Jose Gimenez after successfully utilising a pass from Yannick Carrasco well. Atletico also managed to lead 1-0 over Sevilla.

Second Half
After falling behind, Sevilla immediately made some changes since the second half began. However, this did not bring much influence to the style of play that was displayed by Sevilla in the match. Meanwhile, Ateltico still provide a better resistance to be able to create opportunities. Even so, both teams still have to work extra in order to score additional goals.
Sevilla got a golden opportunity in the 74th minute after Youssef En-Nesyri made a threatening header. Unfortunately, the ball is still slightly wide to the left side of the Atletico Madrid goal.
Sevilla finally managed to surprise Atletico in the 85th minute after En-Nesyri scored the equaliser using a pass from Oliver Torres. As a result, the match ended in a draw with the final score 1-1.
