Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the former captain and striker of Arsenal, is increasingly performing with his new club, Barcelona.
Aubameyang has now transformed into a key Barcelona player with the goals he scored.
Does this then make Arsenal regret after throwing the former captain away?
As is known, Aubameyang experienced a bad period with Arsenal in the 2021/2022 season.
The Gabon player has only scored four goals in 14 matches played in the Premier League.
The situation became even more difficult after Aubameyang was involved in a confrontation with manager Mikel Arteta. Their relationship deteriorated. Arteta removed the armband from Aubameyang’s arm. In fact, had frozen him from the main team.
“I think it’s a problem only with him (Arteta). I can’t tell you more. He wasn’t happy and that was it. I can’t say anything else because that’s what happened. I’m not very happy and it’s better like this,” Aubameyang said.
The striker, who has also played for Dortmund, admits that in the last few months he has had a complicated time. According to him, sometimes football goes like that.
Aubameyang admits he doesn’t want to do anything bad. But right now, it was the past that he would forget and would only think about what happened now.
“There have been some complicated months. Sometimes football can be like that. If I had to say something about this, I would say, on my behalf, I never wanted to do anything bad. Now I put that problem behind me, it’s in the past. I want to think about it now,” said Aubameyang.
The complicated relationship between Aubameyang and Arteta ended in January 2022. Arsenal released Aubameyang to Barcelona on a free transfer after agreeing to terminate his contract.
Finally, Aubameyang scored a brace against Real Madrid, Aubameyang has scored nine goals in just 11 matches played.
Aubameyang regained his best level with Barcelona. The 32-year-old player shows a much different performance compared to when he was with Arsenal in the first half of the 2021/2022 season.
Aubameyang seems to have found a new life. Like when he first came to Arsenal in the second half of the 2017/2018 season.
Arsenal have yet to find a goalscorer as good as Aubameyang. They failed to buy a new striker in January 2022. However, Arsenal proved that they can stay strong without Aubameyang.
Arsenal had a goal crisis in January 2022, now the London Cannon has only failed to score once in the last seven matches.
