AVULUS are crowned RES Regional Champions

After a yearlong of RES Regional Series held across three major regions, Relog Media concluded its circuit with a LAN tournament held this week in Belgrade, Serbia.
While all eyes are on the one million dollar BetBoom Dacha tournament unfolding this week on LAN in Belgrade Serbia, Relog Media crowned its circuit champions in the same city.

RES – a bridge between tier 2 and tier 1 scene
Four RES Regional Series took place this year from February to September, with lower tier teams split across three major regions. Eastern and Western European competitors played in the RES Series EU. North and South American teams played in the RES Series LATAM, while Southeast Asian teams had their own regional battle. Each leg of the Regional Series had $50,000 on the line and RES points to be earned.

In all aspects, the RES circuit was much like the ESL Pro Tour at a smaller scale and was aimed at nurturing the tier 2 and tier 3 scene. A total of $1,180,000 prize pool was on the line through all competitions, and at the end of all RES Series, the top two teams each from EU, LATAM and SEA regions, along with two directly invited teams made it to the RES Regional Champions LAN which had $200,000 prize pool.

From Team Tea to AVULUS to RES Regional Champions
Through its four series, RES was a platform this year for multiple players to break into the tier 1 scene. Dandelions started from the very first RES Series this year and are now playing under the Alliance Banner at tier 1 tournaments, MOUZ have grinded here, NAVI Junior and Yellow Submarine with Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov and Aleksandr “rue” Filin, who are now on the Team Spirit roster, have been a part of the RES Series from the beginning. L1ga Team joined the circuit in the second EU leg and are now competing at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade, while the third RES EU series had Team Tea taking the first place.

Right after RES EU Series #3, Team Tea became AVULUS. They changed the mid laner, welcoming Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau and made the jump to tier 1 tournaments. AVULUS made their debut earlier this month at the $1,000,000 PGL Wallachia Season 2 tournament in Bucharest, Romania where they went through a bit of drama.
