Barcelona has been revealed as willing and ready to discuss the new contract with Frenkie De Jong, and this is expected to happen in the near future.
However, if such talks never take place, or freeze, or fail to bring desired results for both parties, the club might consider a sale in order to restore financial balance, as well as possible further investing into the squad.
De Jong, who moveed to Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from Ajax, has been a vital figure in the Barca team.
He is highly skilled and looks at the big picture, as well as being able to dictate over the game, which has endeared him and has become an essential part of Barcelona midfield.
But, the current contractual situation has motivated some discussions about his continuance in the club.
De Jong has said that his goal is to play in the first team for as long as possible and help Barcelona win as many trophies as possible.
“In football the most important thing as I have said so many times is to win trophies. That is what training and even competition is all about for us every day,” De Jong said.
“Lifting titles with this team I think would be a big thing for me. I am totally committed to what I do for Barcelona and that is why I want to make a lot of successes in the coming years.” De Jong added.
In the season of 2024/2025 the Dutch midfielder plays one of the leading roles in Barcelona speaks for him.
His professional qualities, agreeing technical expertise, bibliography, and tactical vision remain helpful for the group’s goals in various competitions.
If De Jong decides to move out of Barcelona, he has plenty of choices. The giant clubs that could be of interest to him are, the Paris Saint-Germai, Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus.
