Legend Barcelona is concerned about Lionel Messi’s state of affairs at PSG. Barcelona legend from Brazil, Rivaldo, believes that the Argentine superstar is better off staying at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Messi’s future is being talked about because his contract is set to expire at the end of June 2023. Recently, rumors of his departure have strengthened after La Pulga – nicknamed Messi – was frozen from the squad for two weeks after a trip to Saudi Arabia last weekend.
Messi also received a penalty in the form of a two-week salary cut. Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the collaboration between Messi and PSG will definitely end this summer.
Barcelona have been trying to get him back. However, financial problems can be a barrier and the Saudi Arabian club, Al Hilal, will come forward as the strongest candidate to hook Messi’s services.
Rivaldo also commented on La Pulga’s controversial actions. The former Barcelona player admitted that he was surprised that Messi, who is known as a self-disciplined person, violated club rules. Rivaldo believes Messi has his own reasons.
“I’m a little sad to see Lionel Messi taking this kind of attitude, disrespecting his current club, something that is unusual in his career, which has always been marked by clean sheets in terms of discipline. He must be able to do it for a reason, “said Rivaldo quoted from Diario AS, Friday (5/5/2023).
Rivaldo suggested that Messi solve his problem with PSG properly. The 1999 Ballon d’Or winner believes that Messi must be calm in dealing with this problem.
“I have a suggestion, (Messi) should talk to the club, wait for the Saudi leaders to come to Paris or even wait for the end of the season, to reach an agreement with PSG without causing these internal problems,” suggested Rivaldo.
Messi has defended PSG since the summer of 2021 after his contract expired with Barcelona. Financial problems were the backdrop for his move at the time, and Barcelona still couldn’t overcome it when trying to get him back this summer.
