Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-2 on aggregat to reach the Copa del Rey final following a 3-0 win in the second leg of the semi-final.
Thanks to a brilliant goal by Ousmane Dembele and Gerard Pique forced extra-time with a goal at the death. Meanwhile Martin Braithwaite put Barcelona ahead in the fifth minute of extra-time and that was the winner.
Speaking at his press conference, Ronald Koeman has heaped praise on Barcelona after his side’s 3-0 win over Sevilla at the Camp Nou to pull off a remarkable comeback and reach the final of the Copa del Rey.
”We fought to the point of exhaustion, we deserved the victory, we were better in both games, I am very satisfied. We were lucky in the last minute, but the team did well until the end, they believed and we we deserve victory.” Koeman said.
“The team is very strong physically and mentally. You have to fight, you have to create opportunities, you have to have the ball. What the team has done is incredible.” Koeman added.
“We must highlight the ambition of the team, we have always believed in coming back. It is a mentality that we are improving and as a coach I cannot ask for more than what I have seen tonight.
“Sevilla is like that, despite having a 2-0 record, they have tried to pressure us, score a decisive goal. It’s their mentality, I like a coach who always looks for a goal because I don’t believe in defending a result.” Koeman added.
Barca will face Athletic Bilbao in the final on 17 April. Athletic reached this season’s final on Thursday by defeating Levante 2-1 in extra time.
