Fabio Quartararo’s prediction about which racer will perform brilliantly at the 2022 American MotoGP has proven correct. Fabio Quartararo named Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing) and Marc Marquez (Repsol) as his champions in the 2022 American MotoGP race.
El Diablo – Quartararo’s nickname – saw that the two riders deserved to be favorites because they had extraordinary speed. This was conveyed by Quartararo after completing the American MotoGP qualification at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on Sunday (10/4/2022).
“My favorites are Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini. They can go very fast at COTA,” Quartararo was quoted as saying by Speedweek. Quartararo’s prediction proved correct because Bastianini and Marquez performed brilliantly in the American MotoGP race at COTA, Monday (11/4/2022).
Enea Bastianini managed to win the race with a time of 41 minutes 23.111 seconds after starting from fifth. The Italian racer’s victory stems from his success in passing race leader Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo) on lap 16. After passing Miller with his Desmocedici GP22, Bastianini riding the GP21 was able to maintain his position until the finish line.
This is Enea Bastianini’s second win of the 2022 season. Previously, Bastianini also grabbed the first podium in the season opener, MotoGP Qatar 2022. Bastianini finished the American MotoGP race ahead of Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar) and Jack Miller, who finished second and third respectively. .
Meanwhile, no less great appearance was shown by Marc Marquez at COTA. The Spanish rider had experienced technical problems at the start until he fell to the very end, 24th to be exact. However, Marc Marquez, who holds the status of the most successful racer at COTA, showed his class. He made it past 18 riders, including Quartararo, to end the race in sixth, just ahead of Quartararo who finished seventh.
After the race, The Baby Alien said there was a technical problem with his RC213V motorcycle when starting. Honda has also confirmed the problem. Honda gave praise to Marc Marquez who performed brilliantly even though the rider did not manage to win the 2022 American MotoGP race.
“A world class performance by Marc Marquez at the American GP, overcoming problems at the start and showing what he can do with the Honda RC213V,” wrote Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) via its official website. “King of COTA may not get another crown, but his heroic recovery after trouble at the starting line shows that Marc Marquez has not lost his pace or talent, especially in Texas,” wrote HRC.
