Bayren Munich sacked coach Carlo Ancelotti on Thursday, after Wednesday’s 3-0 defeated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League qualification at Parc des Princes stadium. The club also confirmed that some staff members Giovanni Mauri, Davide Ancelotti, Mino Fulco and Francesco Mauri have also left the club.
“Following an internal analysis of the 3-0 defeat in the Champions League qualification in Paris, FC Bayern released his head coach Carlo Ancelotti from his duties,” the club said on its website.
Ancelotti assistant Willy Sagnol to take temporary charge for the trip to face Hertha Berlin on Sunday. However, the Frenchman is a huge favorite to succeed the Italian coach.
Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge regrets what has happened and credited to Ancelotti during his duties in German.
“The performance of our team since the beginning of the season doesn’t favour to our expectations. The match in Paris has clearly shown that we must draw the consequences,” Rumminegge said.
“I would like to thank Carlo for his cooperation and regret what has happened. Carlo is my friend and will remain so, but we had to make a professional decision for the benefir of Bayern.
“I expect the team now to have a positive development and an absolute will to perform, so that we achieve our goals this season.” Rummenigge added.
Bayern is currently at the third in the Bundesliga table stabdings, three points behind leaders Dortmund. In the Champions League campaign, it counts a victory against Anderlecht, and a defeat in Paris.

“It is a very painful defeat, a defeat that we must analyse, and after which he goes we had to speak clearly and draw the consequences, because what we saw was not Bayern Munich,” Rummenigge said.

Ancelotti arrived at Bayern in the summer of 2016 to succed Pep Guardiola. He won the Bundesliga title last season with the club, and failed in the quarter-finals of Champions Leagie against Real Madrid.
