Beat by Australia, Patrick Kluivert Optimistic Indonesia Will Perform Better Against Bahrain

Indonesian National Team Coach, Patrick Kluivert, is optimistic that his team will perform better against the Bahrain National Team. He has forgotten the crushing 1-5 defeat from the Australian National Team.

The duel between the Indonesian National Team and the Bahrain National Team will take place on matchday eight of Group C Round 3 of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone. The match will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Kluivert is optimistic that his team will play better in the match against Bahrain. The man from the Netherlands also emphasized that the target for the remaining matches is victory.

“Everything is possible in football. The mindset of the players and coaching staff is currently extraordinary. We will pursue victory in the match, the target for all (remaining) matches is to win,” said Kluivert at SUGBK, Monday (3/24/2025).

After the 1-5 defeat to Australia, Kluivert revealed that all Indonesian National Team players have great passion to play in the next match. This makes him even more confident that they can achieve better results when hosting Bahrain.

“We have a good mindset. Luck is important, but we have to work together, if we work together with the right mindset, then we can get good results,” he said.

Marselino revealed that a harmonious relationship between players is indeed important. According to him, this is what was missing from the Indonesian National Team when they lost badly to Australia.

The player with the number 7 jersey said that all players in the team had evaluated the previous match. They are also more prepared to face Bahrain.

“Maybe we know that chemistry cannot be built in 1, 2, or 3 days. If we look at the match against Australia, there were many corrections, but the goal is not there,” said Marselino.

“We are here to face the next opponent. So we evaluate the previous results, and we will fight tooth and nail against Bahrain to get three points,” he said.

Indonesia must win three points in the match against Bahrain if they want to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Their fate will also be determined by the Saudi Arabian National Team who will face the Japanese National Team first.
