Liverpool topped the Premier League table after a 3-1 win over hosts Southampton in Week 33 of the Premier League match at St. Louis. Mary’s Stadium, Friday (5/4) or Saturday.
Gaining three points victory that makes Liverpool shift the position of Manchester City in the top position of the standings. Liverpool are two points ahead of Manchester City. Liverpool 82 points, City 80 points.
Playing at Southampton, Liverpool were shocked by Shane Long’s goal in the 9th minute. Goals began with Ryan Bertrand bait on the right side of the Liverpool defense. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg headed in the back and received a free-standing Shane Long in front of the goal. Long did not waste the opportunity and immediately struck the ball into the goal. Left behind by one goal, Liverpool tried to pressure the home team. On 16 minutes, Mohamed Salah gave a cross, and was greeted by Sadio Mane. Unfortunately, his header, denied by Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
Three minutes later it was Southampton’s turn through Long who tried to add a goal. However, the golden opportunity failed to be utilized by Long. a cross from the left wing failed to finish into the goal.
In the 23rd minute Jurgen Klopp’s men had the opportunity to catch up. Mohamed Salah fired from close range after receiving feedback from Andrew Robertson. Unfortunately, Salah’s shot could still be blocked by Southampton defender, Jan Bednarek.
Liverpool only managed to equalize in the 36th minute through Naby Keita who benefited from assisting Trent Alexander-Arnold. Keita’s header to the lower corner resulting Gunn could not anticipate.
On 39 minutes, the Reds had the opportunity to double Liverpool’s advantage. Firmino’s feed into the middle of the penalty box was greeted by Mane’s header. But still wide of the goal. Score 1-1 draw until the first half ended.
The second half began, Southampton kicked back and took the initiative to attack. In the 48 minutes, Yan Valery’s bait failed to be maximized by Redmond. In fact, Redmond’s position is free standing.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops continued to try to master the match. Until the 55th minute, Southampton midfield dominated.

Henderson who ran into the penalty box immediately welcomed the pull bait given by Firmino. The ball slid into the bottom corner of the goal could not be dammed by Gunn. 3-1 score lasts until the long whistle ends.
