Real Madrid was able to recover to win 3-2 over Napoli in the Champions League Group C match on Wednesday.
Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret scored an own goal to give the Spanish team victory late in the second half.
Real Madrid started the match strongly, Vinicius Junior and Bellingham creating various problems for the home defense.
Both players both scored goals for Real in the first half to make the score 2-1 after Leo Ostigard’s header in the 19th minute put Napoli 1-0 up.
However, Piotr Zielinski’s penalty early in the second half allowed Napoli to equalize.
Real Madrid scored the winning goal in the 78th minute when Federico Valverde’s long-range shot hit the crossbar and went straight into Meret’s head before going into his own net.
Real Madrid leads Group C with six points from two matches, three points ahead of Napoli and Braga.
Meanwhile, Union Berlin is at the bottom of the rankings without getting any points.
Jude Bellingham praised Vinícius Júnior by calling the striker “the best in the world” after the pair both scored in Real Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League win at Napoli on Wednesday morning CEST.
“He’s probably the best in the world for me,” Bellingham told Movistar as quoted by ESPN.
“He’s one of the most talented players I’ve ever played with.”
Bellingham has now scored eight goals in his first nine games with Real Madrid in all competitions.
“I believed in myself, but I didn’t expect it to be this good,” he said. “I owe it to my staff and my teammates.”
Bellingham commented on his goal by comparing him to Napoli and Argentina legend Maradona.
“It’s too much!” Bellingham said. “It was a good goal. From what I saw on YouTube and documentaries, the quality was a bit higher than mine, or more. I just tried to contribute in Jude’s way.”
“The surprising thing is he is only 20 years old,” said coach Carlo Ancelotti when asked about Bellingham. “It’s like he’s 30 years old with his character, his personality. He’s always focused, he knows what he has to do. That’s strange for a player who’s only 20 years old. Then the quality he has, his physical strength.”
“Obviously it was a bit of a shock, a shock to everyone.”
Bellingham and Vinicius have only played together in five games so far, after the Brazilian missed a month with a hamstring injury before returning last week.
“We asked Vinicius to find the position he felt best, outside or inside, and Bellingham adapted,” said Ancelotti. “I think they combine well, they have a lot of creativity. When we put them both on the left, we are dangerous.”
