Bianca Andreescu, who has won one Grand Slam title, has had a tough time in 2021.
The 2019 US Open champion was forced to miss a number of tournaments in the 2021 season due to injury and has recently spoken about his struggles both physically and mentally.
The world number 46 is back on court this season after several knee injuries, the first of which came at the end of 2019 when he played in the season-ending tournament, the WTA Finals. Despite showing an impressive performance at the 2021 Miami Open season by advancing to the final (losing to Ashleigh Barty by withdrawing from the second set), injuries will continue to haunt him for the rest of the season.

In a recent interview, the Canadian admitted that he was really going through a tough time with the injury. Apart from talking about his health, he also emphasized the importance of meditation and how it helps him stay calm during tough times.
“The last few seasons have been tough for me because of injuries, then because of the pandemic, I still haven’t been able to play many tournaments this season. I have also been exposed to COVID-19. There are so many things that really bring me down, but I try to get out of that mindset with meditation,” said Andreescu, who lost in the second round of the 2021 US Open.
In the same interview, the 21-year-old also talked about how practicing gratitude helps her deal with mental stress. He also discusses the need to feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
“Also, being grateful for the many things I have is very important during tough times. I do the gratitude exercise in the morning before I start my day and again before I go to sleep. Sometimes it’s hard to do, but you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That was probably one of the biggest lessons I learned,” Bianca Andreescu added.
Andreescu is looking forward to competing in his first Grand Slam in 2022, the Australian Open. After experiencing a fairly sharp drop in rankings, it will be interesting to see if he manages to rise to the top.
