NBA announced the match between Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will be played at the O2 Arena, London, on January 11, 2018 as part of a regular season game of NBA.
This will be the second time that Celtics will travel to London after a pre-season game against Minnesota in 2017. Philadelphia also played a preparatory match against Oklahoma City in 2013 at England, but it was in Manchester.
The Celtics finished last season with the Eastern Conference’s best record qt 53-29. They advanced to the conference finals, and defeating in five games to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Speaking to media, NBA league commissioner Adam Silver said Europe’s fans expected to come and enjoy their time with NBA teams outside the United States of America.
“Our events have become an annual opportunity for basketball fans in Europe to come together and share their passion for NBA,” said Silver.
The NBA made this announcement during the partial unveiling of the calendar of 2017/18 season with the program of the first day and the day of Christmas.
On October 17, Chris Paul made his debut with the Houston Rockets who will be on the court of the Golden State Warriors.
The NBA also announced five games scheduled for Christmas including a remake of the final of last season between the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both teams have been faced in the last three NBA finals with two victories for the Golden State.
The rest of the program for the season will be announced next week. The start of the season is the earliest since 1980/81.
