Bow Valley College is reportedly has launched officially what is said to be the first eSports arena in the city.
This lenitive facility will soon become one of the main training grounds and spaces for interaction for students and gamers within an increasingly expanding space of competitive gaming.
According to the report, it has new arena in Bow Valley College’s South Campus is of 3,500 sq. Ft. or 325 sq. mts.
It has 40 gaming stations, three racing simulator mounted on motion system, a broadcast studio and a specially designed training room.
The arena will also be a learning facility in which the learners will be able to attend training sessions, workshops and other practical events with the help of professional trainers.
Through this form of learning is going to afford student’s practical insight and tangible skills required in the world of eSports.
The arena was developed with the college’s funding and last year the college got $5.5m from the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund (OCIF) for the Digital Entertainment Nexus where it could train 675 people and foster 125 companies by 2028.
Pursuant to the report, the OCIF investment is expected to enable access to programmes in 3D animation, game development, eSports, virtual reality and podcasting.
This is with a view to spurring development and to create diversification through opening the necessary new careers and encouraging start-ups.
“We’re proud of the facility we’ve created here, but even more proud of the contribution it will make to the future of Calgary’s esports and digital entertainment industry.” Misheck Mwaba, President and CEO of Bow Valley College, said.
“We exist to give students the skills they need to take their talents and dreams and apply them to careers that grow our province.” he added.
Furthermore, Bow Valley College will also have partnerships with local schools and organisations that will help it introduce children to the concept of eSports.
However, with the help of presented materials and organisational assistance, the college wants to encourage those people, who with the further development of pop culture, are going to create next generation games and become professional players.
