Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praised on his goal machine Jamie Vardy after 3-0 win over West Brom on Sunday.
Vardy scored twice from the penalty spot and he has scored in all five of his away Premier League appearances at The Hawthorns. The 33-year-old striker will again be among the league’s most prolific strikers this season.
“There are many top strikers at this level but any team would want someone like him in there. He’s super cool, clinical and has still got pace and running ability.” Rodgers said.
“In that situation to put us two up he showed great composure. It’s a great start for him to score two goals and very good for the team.
“With top quality players, it doesn’t matter what they’ve done, doesn’t matter how much they earn, they want to be the best they can be. He trains and works intensely and he is a natural goalscorer, he is still quick, I suspect he will have another great season.” Rodger added.
The Foxes opened their 2020/21 season with just one new signing in the squad, Timothy Castagne scoring on his debut towering header from Dennis Praet’s cross opened the doors 11 minutes into the second half.
“We would like to improve. I said earlier on, it was a fantastic season for us last season, but in order for us to improve, we have ambition, time will develop the players we have here, but we also want to improve in the quality.” Rodgers said.
“That means not getting a big number of players in but certainly a number that will help us develop. The club have been brilliant since the day I came in, and they have always show that when they can, and where they can afford, and there is a player available, they will do everything to get that player in.” he added.
