The ESL One Katowice event held on February 19-24 2019 was officially finished. Even though ESL One Katowice 2019 is not part of a tournament that fights for DPC points, the tournament was attended by 12 strong teams.
The tournament gave a prize of US $ 300,000. In this 2019 ESL One Katowice event, Team Secret dominated so much from the group stage to the playoffs. The absence of tough opponents, at least with consistency in this tournament, made Secret’s trip to the Arena Spodek easy. OG who allegedly gave fierce resistance was only able to threaten in the opening match. Even the TI8 champions were unable to qualify for the finals after being overthrown by Gambit. Recorded in the last four meetings, OG became the target of the CIS team without ever gaining a single point. Team Secret only suffered one defeat during ESL One Katowice 2019, namely in the group stage which had to draw with OG passing the score 1-1.
Although Gambit has a history of winning Minor and several small tournaments this season, Secret is on a different level. As a result, the final match was wiped out by MidOne and friends with a score of 3-0. But the duration of the final party lasted quite a long time and indicated a recalcitrant character from Gambit who did not easily give up.
A fairly versatile game was performed by both 2019 ESL One Katowice finalists. In the first game, Nisha who played Morphling was able to ensure Secret’s superiority after being able to excel far to counter the Terrorblade from Gambit.
In the second game, it was MidOne’s turn to show off after being able to use the Vengeful Spirit as a midlaner who managed to excel and gave a shock to Team Secret. Despite being able to excel at the start of the match, Juggernaut chosen by Gambit is less able to shine in a war that is getting closer to the end of the game.
To ensure their victory, Team Secret chose Anti-Mage as a Carry. A loose game makes Nisha finally able to top the Networth ladder which Gambit Esports is increasingly difficult to pursue. Although Naga Siren and Earth Spirit were able to provide a lag time, the support of Monkey King and Enigma from MidOne and Zai was more than enough to ensure Team Secret’s victory in the 2019 ESL One Katowice event.
Secret’s victory was more complete with the MVP prize given to Zai. Continuing the previous tradition, the winner of the MVP has the right to bring home a Mercedes-Benz car. Zai can now accompany MidOne for a walk around the peaceful city of Poland.
With this victory, Team Secret has the right to get cash of US $ 125,000. While Gambit Esports had to be satisfied to be runner-up and entitled to get cash of US $ 65,000.
However, it should be underlined that OG seems to have begun to find the rhythm of its game, which proved to be OG won 3rd place in this 2019 ESL One Katowice. Do you think OG has successfully won the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor? Or is it Gambit Esports that managed to beat OG again?
