UFC president Dana White said that former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is officialy returning to UFC for a fight againts heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. However, the WWE supestar can’t fight until 2019.
“Yeah, we’re difinitely to make that fight. Lesnar hit me up a couple days ago and says, ‘Sorry I went dark on you, I had some stuff I had to take care of, but I’m going to come to the fight this weekend.’ Okay, see you Saturday.” White said.
“He came here tonight, he was all fired up, if you couldn’t tell. Right when he got to my seat to the side, he was acting like a lunatic. He was fired up and excited for this fight.
“His gut told him Stipe because he felt that Cormier put too much weight on for this fight, he felt it was going to affect him. It didn’t.” White added.
Lesnar, meanwhile, the only obstacles standing in the way right now would be his current situation with United State Anti-Dping Agency (USADA) and his contract with WWE.
The 40-year-old man previously suspended 1 year by USADA last year and fined $ 250,000 by the Nevada Atheltic Commission (NAC) for clomiphene and hydroxy-clomiphene filed drug tests leading into his fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200.
However, White admitted Lesnar has to re-enter the USADA drug-testing pool, which would pave the way for an Octagon return against Cromier.
“So the process has started, they started the process last week. I don’t know where they are in the process, but he’s going to pop up on the board here soon, Monday or Tuesday. I don’t know where they are in the process.” White said.
