Bruno Fernandes explains why he wants to extend his contract at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United agreed to continue working together until the end of June 2026. The Portuguese midfielder admitted that he did not need to think long before saying he agreed to a contract extension because for him playing at Man United was a dream come true.

Yes, Fernandes has officially extended his contract with Man United and announced today, Friday (1/4/2022). The Portugal international will be at Old Trafford until June 2026 and has the option of a one-season contract extension.

Meanwhile, Fernandes admitted that from the beginning he joined Man United he had a special relationship with the club and fans. He explained that he grew up to be a football player by watching Man United matches and dreaming of being part of the team.

“Since I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans. I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day,” Fernandes said.

The 27-year-old said he had realised his dream as a Man United player and it was an honour to be part of the team. This is the main reason for Fernandes to carry out a contract extension.

“That dream is now a reality and it’s an honour,” he said.

Fernandes said during his two seasons with Man United it was amazing to hear the fans singing. He feels very special wearing the Man United jersey and fighting for the title every season.

“Even after two years, it’s still amazing to step out at Old Trafford, hear the fans sing my song and score in front of the Stretford End. It’s a privilege to wear this shirt and fight for our amazing club,” he added.

Furthermore, Fernandes still wants to achieve more titles at Man United. He admits he wants to give the fans the title because they deserve it.

“There’s so much more I want to achieve here, and I know it’s the same for the rest of the squad and staff. More than anything, we want to give the fans the success they deserve,” he added.

Of course, Fernandes’ dream of winning the title will not be possible this season. The biggest opportunity is next season when everything starts from zero again.
