Cameron Norrie Has Main Goals Although Increasingly Known In England

Cameron Norrie

Cameron Norrie may now be Britain’s number one tennis player, but he is not one to rest on his laurels. He plans to become the best tennis player in the world.

The British tennis player has had two amazing seasons, where she has increased her ranking from 74th in the world at the start of the 2021 season to 8th in the world last September.

While these accomplishments have made him increasingly popular in Britain, the tennis player’s goals go beyond that.

“There are a lot more eyes on me at the moment. Entering Wimbledon as the British number 1, then through the journey I’ve been on, I feel I’m better known in England. But for me, it’s not my goal, but to become world No. 1,” said Norrie.

However, the journey to realizing this goal will certainly not be easy, I am a semifinalist at Wimbledon in the 2022 season. In order to realize this dream, the world number 14 player must surpass the 13 other players who stand in his way. Among the 13 tennis players are seasoned tennis players such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, as well as the current world number 1, Carlos Alcaraz.

“There are 13 other players who are better than me, so I have to improve myself,” continued Cameraon Norrie.

Improvement may not appear to be a problem for the dedicated tennis player, including when she spent time working on her fitness during the long delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020 season. She went to New Zealand, the country where she grew up. There, he ran 10 km every day for two months.

“I’m not the type of player who’s going to go out on the court and destroy you right away, I’m going to take my opponent down slowly, point by point,” said Norrie.

The British tennis player can test his plan to dethrone Alcaraz when he participates in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Abu Dhabi which will be joined by four top 10 ranked players.

Held on December 16-18, the exhibition will also feature Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev. World number 19 tennis player, Frances Tiafoe will also enliven the event.

“I think I haven’t played my best game in Australia so I wanted to try something different and I feel lucky I was called up for the exhibition,” said Cameron Norrie.

“To play an important match before an even more important match in Australia will help me achieve my goals and expectations. So, it’s really cool to be involved with the event.”
