Canelo Alvarez, a Mexican superstar and undisputed super middleweight champion, will be defending his titles against Jaime Munguia, an undefeated former world champion.
The fight between Canelo and Munguia will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 4th, 2024.
Canelo has a record of 60-2-2 with 39 knockouts, while Munguia boasts a perfect record of 43-0 with 34 knockouts.
He has proven himself against top-level competition throughout his career and has displayed exceptional boxing skills, power, and ring IQ.
Canelo’s ability to adapt to different styles and his defensive prowess make him a formidable opponent for anyone.
Munguia, on the other hand, is a young and hungry fighter who has shown great potential. He possesses knockout power and an aggressive fighting style that can trouble his opponents. However, Munguia will face his toughest test yet in Canelo.
It is worth noting that Canelo had previously stated that he did not want to fight Mexican fighters.
However, he made an exception for Munguia because of the respect he had for him and the opportunity that Munguia had earned.
“This fight got made because of all the names on the table. Munguia was the most interesting. With his mentality, this is guaranteed to be a good fight.” Canelo said.
Meanwhile Munguia has expressed his respect for Canelo but also admitted that in the ring, they are enemies and will compete to determine who is the best that night.
“I have never spoken ill of any boxer, and obviously much less of Canelo. There’s respect. I respect him for the things he’s done, but in the ring, it’s a different story.” Munguia said.
“In the ring, well, we’re enemies. We’re going to see who is the best that night. That’s where we’ll talk,” Munguia added.
Both Canelo and Munguia are skilled fighters with impressive records. Alvarez, being the more experienced and accomplished fighter, will likely enter the ring as the favourite.
