The WBA, WBC and IBO middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez insisted that he will not fight again over Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in the future.
The Mexican icon said he did not understand why Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya would make the promise of a third fight against Golovkin.
“I don’t know why he brings that up,” Canelo said. “Sometimes he says things that he should not say or talks about things that he should not talk about things that cannot happen. We have a very dangerous fight first, what he is saying does not make any sense.” Canelo said.
Canelo is a great fighter with a big personality, but he needs bight fights now. His team are forcing to work fast to secure a new opponent. And the middleweight champion has announced he’s next fight against WBO world light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev oon November 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA.
“The truth is that I did not visualize that fight right now, I am taking these risks, these fights for my career, and right now Golovkin does not represent anything to me.” Canelo said.
“I beat him twice (it was a draw and victory) and he does not represent a greater challenger for me to fight with him. For the same reason I am taking these challenges, I think Golovkin should take these challenges in his career, but he has not taken nay risks.
“It really does not represent any challenge to fight him again, so I am doing this fight with Kovalev, big fights, big challenges for my career and the love of boxing.” Canelo added.
De La Hoya, meanwhile, has recently denied has some issues with. He claimed very happy to continue working with his client.
“They are rumors, obviously people can speculate and talk, but we’ve had a great relationship with Canelo for many years.” De La Hoya said.
“I have been his promoter for more than 10 years and we are happy to continue working with him, and we are happy to introduce this fight on the 2nd of November.” he added.
