The reason is, after facing Espanyol, they will meet Liverpool in the second leg of the last 16 of the 2022-2023 Champions League, on Thursday (16/3/2023) and Barcelona in the continuation of the Spanish League 2022-2023, on Monday (20/3/ 2023).
“This is an important moment in the season because we want to face Barcelona with the best mentality possible. That means beating Espanyol and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2022-2023 Champions League is very important for us, “he continued.
Nevertheless, Carlo Ancelotti did not underestimate Espanyol at all. According to him, Espanyol is a team that has high motivation and is very solid in defence.
