Cascades Casino Delta receives final approval

In western Canada, Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited has announced that its plan to spend approximately $53 million in order to build a new resort casino in the city of Delta has been endorsed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Planned 2020 opening: The Vancouver-headquartered casino operator used an official Tuesday press release to detail that the regulatory approval means that it can now begin constructing the planned Cascades Casino Delta with the 124-room enterprise now expected to open in 2020 complete with a trio of restaurants alongside a casino featuring up to 500 slots and 24 gaming tables.

Strategic location: Gateway is responsible for over a dozen gaming properties throughout western Canada including the Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby as well as New Westminster’s Starlight Casino. The operator explained that the coming 200,000 sq ft Cascades Casino Delta will employ up to 700 people and sit on a 10.8-acre site located some 30 miles from downtown Vancouver and approximately 18 miles from the Canadian border with the United States. Expanding Cascades family: Tony Santo, Chief Executive Officer for Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited, declared that his firm is already responsible for Cascades-branded facilities in the British Columbia communities of Penticton, Langley and Kamloops and recently began building its Cascades Casino Chatham venue in southern Ontario.

Santo’s statement read… “We look forward to bringing this state-of-the-art entertainment destination to such a rapidly growing and dynamic community. Through our investment of C$70 million in Delta, we will bring up to 700 new jobs and careers to the area and significant economic spin-offs during the construction and beyond.” Public engagement efforts: Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited announced its plan to build Cascades Casino Delta in September of 2017 in advance of receiving preliminary approval from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. The firm subsequently endeavoured to engage with the local community via multiple open houses, public information sessions and stakeholder presentations before being rewarded with local planning consent in August.

Santo’s statement read…“Throughout this process we have worked closely with our partners at the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and the city of Delta. I would like to thank them for their thoughtful diligence throughout this process. As well, I’d like to thank everyone in the community that attended the open houses, presentations and the public hearing earlier this year. Your input was invaluable and has continued to enhance the project.”
