Casper Ruud Suggests Changing Rule to Only Have One Serve in Some Tournaments

Casper Ruud has come up with his own new rule in tennis. He wished to see a one-serve tournament in the future and reasoned his ideas.

Despite Toni Nadal’s ongoing efforts over the past ten years to reform tennis rules, such as advocating for a move from two to one serve.

“Playing with one serve. It wouldn’t be easy, but it’s a rule that could be changed. This is something that obviously won’t happen, but if that could change, I’d like to see us play a few single serve tournaments and see what happens.” Ruud said.

“I have the impression that we would have more exchanges. Sometimes, especially on a fast court, it’s very easy to hold serve and there are no fun rallies.”

“I think that’s funny, even if it doesn’t make it the right answer. There are people who think it’s fun to see straight serves and more direct rallies, just like for other players it’s more comfortable and easier to play long rallies quickly.” Ruud added.

The Norwegian on Friday defeated the Argentinian, Diego Schwartzman in the first round in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at the Indian Wells Open. However, he has to admit defeat to Chilean Christian Garin in two sets in the second round in California.

“Being back in Indian Wells is a great feeling. It is one of the most important tournaments of the year and a place with many conditions for players.” Ruud said

“It is very well organised and everyone wants to show their best tennis. I also want. I had a couple of weeks of training and rest in February and my season really started last week in Acapulco. I hope I can have great results here.” he added.
