Borussia Dortmund confirmed themselves to the semifinals of the 2023-2024 Champions League. Die Borussen won 4-2 (5-4 aggregate) over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the quarter-finals which took place at Signal Iduna Park, Wednesday (17/4/2024).
Borussia Dortmund Sports Director, Sebastian Kehl, said he was satisfied with his team’s performance in the match against Atletico Madrid. He emphasized that Dortmund’s good performance was inseparable from the support of the supporters throughout the match.
“Big credit to the team and coaching staff for the way they prepared the match. We managed to make history once again and once again qualify for the semifinals,” said Sebastian, quoted from the Dortmund website, Wednesday (17/4/2024).
“Extraordinary energy can be felt, also among the audience. I am happy that we can again give the spotlight to our fans,” he added.
He said his team would continue to improve to be better in future matches. Because, he believes that the competition in the semifinals will be much tighter and will be a test for his team.
“We will prepare for both matches in a very focused way,” he said.
Sebastian said that currently only two clubs are certain to qualify for the semifinals, namely Dortmund and PSG. He believes Dortmund should be whoever they face in the future.
“A team of high quality who won impressively at Barcelona awaits us at PSG,” he said.
