Champions League Results: Bayern Munchen win a landslide victory over Chelsea

Bayern Munchen won 3-0 over Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Wednesday (26/2).

Munchen got his first chance in the first minute through Thomas Muller. But Muller’s right foot shot can be secured by goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Chelsea’s young midfielder Mason Mount gave a counterattack to Munich’s defense. Unfortunately Mount left leg kick is still wide thin on the right of the Bundesliga giant goal.

Giroud’s header from a corner was still too weak and goalkeeper Manuel had no difficulty in thwarting Chelsea’s chances.

Robert Lewandowski failed to take advantage of a golden opportunity in the 27th minute to bring Munich ahead first. Muller breakthrough bait that cheated Lewandowski still on the feet of goalkeeper Caballero, Munchen also failed to score a goal.

Goalkeeper Neuer made a brilliant save in the 43rd minute by hitting Marcos Alonso’s left footed shot from inside the penalty area.

Goal opportunities were also wasted by Mason Mount and Ross Barkley in the 48th minute. Mount failed to score after his cheat was blocked by Neuer. The rebound ball was also not used neatly by Barkley because Neuer was thwarted by a shot.

Through a slick counter-attack the visitors could actually lead first in the 51st minute through goals from Serge Gnabry. Gnabry breaks into Caballero’s goal after making a one-two pass with Lewandowski.

Lewandowski was again the creator of Munchen’s second goal scored by Gnabry in the 54th minute. After getting a breakthrough bait from Lewandowski, Gnabry directs the ball to the left side of the Chelsea goal that can not be reached by Caballero.

FC Hollywood moved further away with a 3-0 lead in the 76th minute through Lewandowski who made use of Alphonse Davies’ acceleration.

Disadvantaged by a margin far enough to make the Blues players a little frustrated. Mascos Alonso violated Lewandowski in the 82nd minute. After being reviewed by VAR, referee Clement Turpin gave a red card to Alonso.

Superior number of players to make Munchen continue to launch attacks on Chelsea. But there are no additional goals created. The final score remained 3-0 to win for Munchen.
