Champions League Results: Liverpool Wins Over Midtjylland 2-0

Liverpool secured three points after a 2-0 win over FC Midtjylland at Anfield. Liverpool’s winning goal was scored by Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah’s penalty.

The Reds did not win this fight easily. Even though they played at home, Jurgen Klopp’s squad had a hard time dealing with Midtjylland’s aggressive resistance.

The Danish club made Liverpool who played without the trio of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino on the front lines from the first minute had difficulty creating opportunities.

The situation lasted until the end of the first half. The new port city team could score a goal against the visitors in the 55th minute.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s measured bait after working with Xherdan Shaqiri could be converted into a goal by Diogo Jota. After that, Salah also put his name on the scoreboard with a goal from the penalty spot in the final minutes of the match.

These results made Liverpool win their second win in Group D. In the previous match, Liverpool won 1-0 over Ajax Amsterdam.

Unfortunately, Fabinho suffered an injury during this match. Fabinho is partnered with Joe Gomez in this match. However, the all-round Brazilian player could only play for 30 minutes.

Fabinho suffered an injury while running back to the Liverpool defense area. The former AS Monaco player experienced a hamstring problem and immediately asked to be replaced by another player.

The position of Fabinho was later replaced by Rhys Williams, a 19 year old young defender. Williams duet with Gomez until the game is over.

Fabinho’s injury creates new problems for coach Jurgen Klopp. This is because the port city team lost another player who could be plotted as a center back.

Fabinho himself is an emergency center-back. The player, who plays in his original position as a defensive midfielder, was positioned at center back to replace the injured Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip.

Virgil van Dijk has certainly been out for a long time due to a severe injury. The tough Dutch defender injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and is rumored to be absent until the end of this season.

Apart from Van Dijk, Liverpool still have Matip. However, the former Schalke player is also sidelined due to an injury against Everton.

The injury to these three players means that Liverpool only have one senior defender, Gomez, who is ready to play. Apart from that, Klopp only has young players like Williams, Nathaniel Phillips, Sepp van den Berg, and Billy Koumetio.

This situation made Klopp have to rack his brains. The German coach is required to find the best solution to find Gomez’s partner in the next few games.
