Champions League Results: Man City Wins Over PSG

Manchester City managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with a score of 2-1 in the Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium, Thursday (25/11).

The Citizens are comfortably at the top of Group A with 12 points. Manchester City are eight points ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in second place, and also ensured themselves to advance to the knock-out phase.

In the first half, Man City was more dominant in possession of the ball. The presence of Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri in the midfield made ‘The Citizens’ able to win control of the ball and attack flow.

The excitement of this duel has been felt since the early minutes. In the 6th minute, Rodri received a free kick and managed to direct the ball into the PSG goal. Keylor Navas was unable to reach the ball, but Presnel Kimpembe managed to clear it before it crossed the line!

Man City’s best chance in the first half was when Gundogan’s shot hit the post and Riyad Mahrez’s shot was saved by Keylor Navas.

Meanwhile PSG were not able to move much in the first half. PSG’s best chance in the first half only came when Kylian Mbappe escaped from the control of Man City’s back line but his shot still bounced over the goal.

At the beginning of the second half, precisely in the 50th minute, PSG managed to surprise Man City. Through a slick attack scheme built by Neymar, Lionel Messi and Ander Herrera, the ball fell to Mbappe’s feet when Messi tried to send a pass and hit the opposing defender.

With an open position, Mbappe managed to beat Ederson.

After continuing to press, Man City finally scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute. Raheem Sterling was in an unmarked position in front of goal and managed to clear the chaos for a goal.

When the position is level, both teams are increasingly aggressive and play an open game. Man City had a chance through Gabriel Jesus but his shot was blocked by Keylor Navas in the 69th minute.

PSG also missed a chance to regain the lead when Neymar’s 74th-minute shot went wide on the right side of goal.

Jesus finally brought Man City back ahead in the 76th minute. This goal came from Man City’s well-measured attack scheme. Mahrez’s pass towards the far post was continued by Bernardo Silva to Jesus. Jesus then coolly completed the opportunity into a goal.

PSG tried hard to find a goal in the remaining time but the score 2-1 for the hosts lasted until the end of the match.
