Reigning European champions Chelsea on Wednesday night will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the 2021-22 Champions League.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel insisted he’s not worried about being seized by the Spanish LaLiga leaders.
“We don’t need special things to lift our spirits. We need to build on the things and the beliefs we’ve built over the course of the season and the year. I don’t think we’re going to do crazy things now.” Tuchel said.
“We will do what we need to do to prepare for the next match as best we can. We need to do better, improve, become more committed, mature, and we can’t lose focus for a minute because you can get punished.” Tuchel added.
Tuchel’s side come into this game on the back of a 4-1 loss to Thomas Frank’s Brentford in the English Premier League. However, coach Tuchel has insisted that he will not change anything before on Wednesday night match against Real Madrid.
“I don’t know because that’s their problem. We solve our problem and I don’t read too much about the results of other matches because it has nothing to do with the upcoming match.” Tuchel said.
“It’s a bit more difficult because we’ve just had a big loss. But neither me nor the players feel there is a problem.
“So I put all my attention on preparing for the match against Real Madrid. Real Madrid will do what they want.” he added.
Tuchel went on to admit his side’s loss does not help motivation ahead of their upcoming gruelling midweek clash with Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s side on the other hand, beat Eduardo Coudet’s Celta Vigo 2-1 in LaLiga.
The two clubs last faced each other last year in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-0 in the second leg.
