Ahead of their Saturday match against Norwich, Chelsea manager has provided injury updates on Oliver Giroud, N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi.
The Blues have a point from their opening two league games after losing a 4-0 away to Manchester United last weekend. But they hope can secure first win under manager Lampard.
“As I said before, if we’d have been more clinical in front of goal we possibly could have had three wins. The competition is there and that’s the challenge for the strikers.” Lampard said.
“I’ve got no problems with their attitude and training. We work hard on the training ground as a team to create and also to finish. I used to love practicing my finishing in training.
“What I have got is great attitude in the three strikers. But others in the squad also always want to stay out, want to work harder.” Lampard said.
Tammy Abraham has been struggling in front of goal so far. However, Lampard may take a gamble on the youngster to lead the line this weekend.
“Tammy’s shot goes in off the post against United, different story for him, different for the game. But we can’t too down about that, we’ve got to stay positive and it will come.” Lampard said.
“We’ve got some great attacking players here and it will come.” Lampard added.
N’Golo Kante is a doubt for the match this weekend with an ankle sprain. Antony Rudiger, meanwhile, has a knee injury and is a major doubt to face the Canaries.
Chelsea were comfortably beaten by Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup earlier this week, but did not play badly at all. Batshuayi scored twice against in the game. Lampard heaped praised on the Belgium striker after the match.
“I thought it was a good performance and he got the fitness work he needed out of the game. It was two good goals: two very good finishes. He worked hard and that’s exactly what the game was for. We need Michy, we need the competition up front. I thought the team performance was really good.” Lampard said.
“Kante has got an injury he has carried all week, so we’ll assess that over the next 24 hours. Rudiger’s not fit yet, hopefully for next week. That’s the only changes from where we last week.” Lampard added.
