Chelsea are exploring the possibility of re-signing forward Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid after negotiations for young striker Samu Omorodion stalled.
The Blues had previously agreed to a £34.5 million fee with Atletico for Omorodion, but talks over personal terms collapsed. While not completely off the table, the deal has hit significant roadblocks.
With their pursuit of Omorodion facing challenges, Chelsea have turned their attention to other attacking options, including Felix. The Portuguese forward enjoyed a successful loan spell at Stamford Bridge last season and is reportedly open to returning. Atletico are believed to value Felix at around £43 million.
A potential Felix deal is intertwined with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico. The Spanish club requires a substantial player sale to fund Gallagher’s £34 million transfer.
Meanwhile, Atletico are also close to completing an £81.5 million deal for Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, which is expected to proceed regardless of other transfer activity.
Chelsea’s summer transfer window has been marked by significant spending on young players, with the club already signing 10 individuals under the age of 21. The potential addition of Felix would bring more experience and attacking flair to the squad.
