Chelsea beat FC Copenhagen 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The victory over Kevin Diks et al. brought The Blues to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League.
Chelsea vs FC Copenhagen took place at Stamford Bridge in the last 16 of the UEFA Conference League, Friday (14/3/2025). The Blues started this match with a 2-1 aggregate advantage after winning the first leg.
Copenhagen played Chelsea’s open game at the start of the first half. The duel was tight. However, both teams had difficulty creating dangerous opportunities until 25 minutes into the match.
The first shot on goal in this match only came in the 41st minute. Victor Claesson tried but was still blocked by Filip Jorgensen.
Meanwhile, Chelsea did not make any shots at all in the first half. The score remained 0-0 until halftime.
The Blues were able to break the deadlock in the 55th minute. Kiernan Dewbury-Hall was able to get past three Copenhagen players. He then fired a shot that nestled into the left corner of the away team’s goal.
This goal made Chelsea more comfortable in attacking. Pedro Neto tried a long-range shot. However, the ball was still blocked by Diant Ramaj.
Cole Palmer had a chance after being able to stab from the middle. His shot did not produce results because it was still wide.
Chelsea’s pressure had not subsided, Christopher Nkunku had space in the penalty box. Ramaj returned to action by being able to secure the ball.
Rodrigo Huescas had a golden opportunity to equalize. Free on the right side of the penalty box, his shot actually soared.
Palmer tried once again by stabbing from the middle. His shot was again saved by Ramaj.
Despite continuing to attack, Chelsea were unable to score additional goals in the remaining match. The score of 1-0 for the Blues ended the match.
This victory took Chelsea to the quarterfinals. They won 3-1 on aggregate.
