Chelsea won 3-0 over AC Milan on matchday three of Group E of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Thursday (6/10).
This result also made Olivier Giroud helpless in front of his former club, Chelsea. Sofascore noted that Giroud never fired a shot at the Blues goal.
Chelsea as the host created opportunities when the match went six minutes through Mason Mount’s long-distance kick. However, Mason Mount has not been able to score the opening goal for Chelsea as his shot was saved by AC Milan goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu.
Captain Thiago Silva had three chances in a row with headers, all of which ended in corners.
In the third corner, Silva’s header was denied by Ciprian Tatarussanu. The ball continued to roll in front of the Milan goal and caused chaos.
In that situation Wesley Fofana tried to take advantage of scoring opportunities. Fofana’s kick could not be blocked by Tatarussanu. Chelsea winning 1-0 in the 24th minute.
Mason Mount was able to find the net for Milan in the 32nd minute after receiving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s through ball.
However, Mount’s goal with a lob from a tight angle was ruled out after the England midfielder was offside.
The hosts almost added a goal in injury time through the action of Raheem Sterling who received a pass from Mason Mount. However, Raheem Sterling held the ball too long so it could be cut by AC Milan players.
Rade Krunic threw away Milan’s golden opportunity from in front of an empty Chelsea goal in the 45+5 minute. The opportunity was created through the action of Rafael Leao.
Leao passes the ball to Charles De Katelaere. De Katelaere’s shot was saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Krunic tried to use the rebound ball, but it still floated over the crossbar.
In the second half, the Blus became more competitive. Two goals were scored by Mateo Kovacic and his friends to win 3-0 over Milan.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Chelsea back ahead in the 56th minute after maxing out Reece James’ assist.
Five minutes later it was Reece James’s turn to register his name on the scoreboard after receiving Raheem Sterling’s pass. The 3-0 score lasted until the end, Chelsea won over Milan.
With this result, Chelsea rose to second place in Group E with four points, ahead of the head to head record of AC Milan in third place who collected the same points.
RB Salzburg still lead with five points, while Dinamo Zagreb are bottom of the table with three points.
