Chelsea Will Announce Lampard as New Coach Soon

Then chance of Frank Lampard to become Chelsea’s new coach is reported increasing. Announcement will be made on Thursday (04/07/2019) tomorrow. Quoted from SkySports, it is known that the 41-year-old man has gained certainty from Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, about the plan after the ban on the transfer was completed. Chelsea’s embargo transfer was received due to illegal recruitment of young players. The FIFA verdict had an impact on the Blues being unable to carry out “shopping” activities on two transfer windows.

On the other hand, Lampard, Chelsea’s all-time top scorer, does not expect special treatment from the club’s management. He wants to be treated like any other coach, judging from the results in the field. Lampard is known not to ask for guarantees to be given time to make a quick impact. If officially signed a contract, Lampard will be Chelsea’s fourth manager in less than four years.

It is reported that Lampard agreed a three-year contract worth £4m-a-year. Moreover, Chelsea has promised him a big bonus if he can steer the Blues to a top-four finish next season.

Negotiations over Lampard’s move were easier after Derby County, the club where Lampard is currently training, gave a “green light” to the move from the former English footballer. As soon as Lampard moved, Derby was called to begin the approach to Philip Cocu, former coach of PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbache. Negotiations with representatives of the Dutch coach are ongoing, although Cocu still wants to know the details of the club’s plans before pressing the contract.

Nonetheless, Chelsea’s Director, Marina Granovskaia, is said to have doubts about Lampard because he still has minimal flight hours as a coach, his vision for the club, and whether he will give opportunities to young Chelsea players. However, on the other hand, Lampard also had the support of several Chelsea players, one of them being midfielder Willian. Willian felt sure Lampard was the right figure for Chelsea. “Will he be the next coach? I don’t know. However, I think he is the right person to face the task,” Willian told London Football. “He is a great player and figure. He is just starting his coaching career now, but has everything to succeed,” Willian said.
