Chelsea had to pay for their big win over Leeds United with the injury of one of the mainstay players, namely Hakim Ziyech. As confirmed by the coach, Frank Lampard, Ziyech was said to have suffered a hamstring injury.
Chelsea are known to have won full points when they hosted Leeds United at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Sunday (6/12/2020) in the morning WIB. Week 11 of the 2020-2021 Premier League was completed with a 3-1 victory for the hosts.
The Blues-nicknamed Chelsea- actually have to be left behind in this match. In the fourth minute, Leeds opened the scoring first through Patrick Bamford’s action.
However, midway through the first half, Chelsea managed to equalize through Olivier Giroud’s action. In the second half, Chelsea only secured victory after two additional goals were scored by Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic.
Unfortunately, Chelsea’s joy after winning the victory had to be interrupted by Ziyech’s injury. In the 30th minute, the Moroccan midfielder appeared to have a problem with his leg
He limped off and finally pulled off the field by Lampard. Ziyech’s role in the lag was replaced by Cristian Pulisic.
After the match finished, Lampard confirmed that Ziyech had a hamstring injury. However, he could not confirm the extent of the injury.
This only became known after Ziyech underwent further tests. But for sure, the news of Ziyech’s injury has disappointed Lampard because he realizes the importance of the player’s role on the field, especially Chelsea will face a busy schedule ahead.
“He (Hakim Ziyech) has a hamstring injury. We will only know the severity of it in the next few days,” said Lampard, as quoted from the official Chelsea website, Sunday (6/12/2020).
“Obviously, this (Ziyech’s injury) is disappointing news because we are entering a busy period,” said the Englishman.
