Christmas Gift for Arsenal, Wenger Back to Emirates Stadium

Arsenal’s victory over West Ham United in the Premier League was a special memory. For the first time since 2018, their legendary coach, Arsene Wenger, returned to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal managed to beat West Ham with a score of 3-1 in the English League Boxing Day match at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday (27/12/2022). With this victory, Mikel Arteta’s troops strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League standings with a collection of 40 points. The team nicknamed The Gunners managed to increase the distance to 7 points from the runners-up in the Premier League standings, Newcastle United, who managed to displace Manchester City.

However, there is something that makes victory on Boxing Day even more special for the players, staff and Arsenal fans who come to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal will get a Christmas present with the presence of the legendary coach and the figure they adore, Arsene Wenger, in the stands at the Emirates Stadium.

This is Wenger’s first appearance at the Emirates Stadium since his departure from the Arsenal coaching position in 2018. The man who was in charge of Arsenal for 22 years and led the team to three Premier League titles, including one season unbeaten, is still loved by fans.

Arsenal supporters were still chanting the coach with his alias, Le Professeur, in the stadium when they became aware of Wenger’s presence among them. Like a talisman that gives luck to the team, Arsenal managed to avenge Said Benrahma’s penalty with three goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said the arrival of Wenger is considered at the right time, where Arsenal are top of the standings and have just won their seventh home game in a row. “Arsene (Wenger) chose the right time. I think today’s performance was at a level he deserved,” said Arteta.

“Thank you very much for coming. Hopefully walking through the building he will feel hat everyone thinks of him, the legacy he left here,” said the Spanish coach.

After managing Arsenal for 22 years and leaving in 2018, Wenger has taken over the task as FIFA’s head of global football development. Wenger’s cold hands led Arsenal to become a force to be feared on British and European soil.
