Daniel Sturridge’s career as a Liverpool spearhead has been affected with injuries throughout. There have been enough evidences of form to cement the Englishman’s position formidably at Liverpool, hence every time he makes a comeback, it doesn’t go by unnoticed and this time he’s making one at the time of one of English football’s greatest derbies – The Merseyside derby
Jurgen Klopp will monitor Sturridge’s fitness within the next forty eight hours to decide whether he can make a comeback on Monday when the Reds face their closest city rivals, Everton. Sturridge has missed Liverpool’s last five matches after he pulled a calf injury.
“He cannot be 100% but having Daniel Sturridge for 20 minutes would be fantastic, if he is available he will be involved. Until now he’s made four pitch sessions with the rehab coach. It would be nice if he could be part of my department … the pitch training that I’m responsible for. Maybe we can involve him today.” Klopp told the press

Another contender who will be looking to make a comeback in the Klopp’s squad after an injury prone tenure will be Emre Can. The German missed a couple of games with a knee ligament injury a fortnight ago. Can’s comeback at the moment is of the utmost importance now that, Joel Matip’s season looks in shambles. Matip suffered an ankle injury which has put his season at stake.
“It’s not really an injury but it’s a little painful, we cannot push him through it. So we have to see if we try him again for Everton or give him another few days for Stoke or another few days for Manchester City. He did parts of the training before the Middlesbrough game but at the end he said ’I cannot sprint’ so it makes no sense.” said Klopp regarding Matip’s injury
A cleansheet midweek against Middlesbrough would have lessened Klopp’s concerns regarding their defensive shortcomings.
“Two days before the Middlesbrough game we spoke about conceding goals here, only drawing there, losing to Bournemouth. We knew we had to change a few things and I was really happy with the boys’ performance. We have a really good base not just from a points side – which is not too bad – but from a performance side.” – said Klopp.
