Tennis News: Tennis player Roger Federer who has collected 20 Grand Slam titles, Roger Federer believes he is in top form ahead of his first tournament since losing in the quarterfinals of the US Open this season.
At the Shanghai Masters this week, Federer is seeded in second place just behind Novak Djokovic. He won the Masters 1000 tournament twice and won it the last time in the 2017 season after defeating Rafael Nadal.
He became the third tennis player to win the title in Shanghai more than once after Djokovic (four) and Andy Murray (three).
“It (the field in Shanghai) was a fast field, so I think it fits in perfectly with my game,” Federer admitted.
“But of course when the pitch is fast, you have to be careful and accurate, especially in the best three set matches. The weather was conducive, the training session went well, and I kept myself busy. I am ready to act. “

One question that is quite worrying about Federer in recent months is his back, an injury that has blocked his path during the last Grand Slam this season. When diving into the match against Grigor Dimitrov, he asked for a pause on medical grounds and received treatment on his back in the deciding set before swallowing a bitter defeat.
However, it seems that the problem ended a few weeks ago at the Laver Cup.
The 38-year-old moved freely on the field for three days in the Laver Cup event with the final result of the European Team successfully defending his title. Federer’s hope now is that he will be able to maintain that momentum.
“Sometimes I feel my back is stiff as I go down in the hard-court. If the weather gets colder, that could also be a problem, ” Federer explained.
“I must say, I feel wonderful with my back. I can fully serve, which is very much needed in a fast hard-court. “
Chasing the 29th Masters 1000 in his career, Federer believes that the key to success is finding the right balance. This season, he has won 45 matches.
Federer’s first test in Shanghai this week was Spain’s Albert Ramos Vinolas, who defeated Marin Cilic 6-4 6-4.
