Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, became a byword in the 2022 summer transfer market because his future at Old Trafford was in question. Ronaldo even missed Man United’s pre-season training for family reasons.
Many people think Ronaldo’s reasons are far-fetched. However, Man United legend Rio Ferdinand defended his former team-mate. According to him, Ronaldo’s reasoning is not making it up.
Ferdinand rate, Ronaldo is a very professional athlete. He doubts that Ronaldo will act unprofessionally just to change clubs.
“I’ve seen people who lack respect. The way they ask the question, ‘He’s not here?’ and the madness that surrounds it. A family member is sick, so he doesn’t train,” said Ferdinand, quoted by the Thsport page, Thursday (7/7/2022).
“He is the perfect athlete, super professional. We’ve seen him for 15 years and people question the professionalism of this man, why he doesn’t come to training.”
“Actually, he might want to move. He may not be happy with certain things at the club. But in terms of professionalism, this man trains wherever he is.”
“We always get that pattern. His family is in trouble and that’s where he is and you have to respect that. As simple as that. Could the club communicate better? It should be like that,” he said. As is known, Ronaldo’s future at Man United is unclear. Although he still has a contract until June 30, 2023, Ronaldo doesn’t seem at home.
It’s all because of the lack of achievement of the Red Devils in the last year. Man United only finished sixth in the Premier League last season and missed out on the Champions League. Ronaldo reportedly wants to move to a club that plays in the Champions League.
