Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is likely to stay at Old Trafford in the 2022-2023 season. Ronaldo gave the code to stay after Man United massacred Brentford 3-0 in the 2021-2022 Premier League.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored Manchester Red’s second goal against the Bees in the 61st minute via the penalty spot. Previously, he had also scored a goal in the 45th minute, but it was disallowed for being in an offside position.
Reporting from the Manchester Evening News, Tuesday (3/5/2022), when the match was over, CR7 walked around the field while giving appreciation to the Man United supporters who filled Old Trafford, Tuesday (3/5/2022). Then, when the camera focuses on his face, he appears to say, “I’m not done yet.”
In addition, the 37-year-old also gave a code about his future at Old Trafford through his goal celebration. He ran while pointing to the Man United crest and pointing downwards which was speculated as a sign he would stay with the Manchester Red squad next season.
Previously, Ronaldo was reportedly not comfortable with Man United. Because, Man United have performed so badly this season that they almost certainly fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The former Real Madrid player is also said to be returning to Los Blancos or to his last team, Juventus. He is also reportedly considering hanging up his shoes because he is not young anymore, which is 37 years old.
However, with the code he gave after the match against Brentford, Ronaldo seems to be staying at Old Trafford next season. Please note, his new contract will expire in June 2023. In addition, two other Man United goals against Brentford were scored by Bruno Fernandes (9′) and Raphael Varane (72′).
Thanks to this victory, Man United is in sixth place in the standings with a collection of 58 points. Man United mathematically still has a chance to finish in the top four even though it depends on the results of Arsenal (fourth position, 63 points) and Tottenham Hotspur (fifth position, 61 points).
