Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season. It will also have an impact on the Red Devils coaching chair, which is rumoured to be filled by Antonio Conte.
The news came from BeIN Sports journalist Richard Keys on Twitter. In one of his Twitter posts, Richard Keys said the former Inter Milan coach could take over at Manchester United if Cristiano Ronaldo left the club at the end of the season.
“If [Cristiano] Ronaldo left [Manchester] United this summer, maybe Antonio Conte would take the job. Cristiano Ronaldo is the reason he’s not there now. I think everyone knows that,” he tweeted via @richardajkeys.
As is known, Ralf Rangnick filled the Manchester United coaching chair, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021. In fact, at that time it was widely reported that Antonio Conte would fill the void. However, it turned out that Ralf Rangnick was signed to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Running for three months under Manchester United’s German tactician, the Red Devils have not shown maximum performance.
Manchester United is considered to have many obstacles. This can be seen from their position in the 2021-2022 Premier League, only in fourth place, 20 points adrift of the leader of the standings, Manchester City.
Bad luck also happened to them, when they had to lift their suitcase from the FA Cup this season, after being defeated by Middlesbrough on penalties.
Not to mention, the issue of internal division of the team, the commotion between Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, and Cristiano Ronaldo, which spread to the public, made Antonio Conte’s name dragged again, replacing Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.
So, can Antonio Conte officially go to Manchester United if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves? Antonio Conte’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur runs until the end of the 2022-23 season. However, he bears a tough task to boost Tottenham Hotspur’s position from eighth in the standings.
However, on the other hand, Antonio Conte’s move to Manchester United could happen. The news that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), because Zinedine Zidane will replace Mauricio Pochettino, could be a strong reason for Antonio Conte to anchor to Old Trafford.
Not to mention, Antonio Conte was reportedly unhappy with the club’s transfer policy in January. Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli, Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso were allowed to leave the club.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur only brought in two new players, namely Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. However, it remains to be seen whether Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
