Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is attempting to convince Diego Simeone to sign him for Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese star is insisted to leave Old Trafford to realise his ambition to play in the Champions League.
Ronaldo currently has a one-year contract with United, but he refused to train or travel with the team during preseason because of his family.
However, Ronaldo was no longer as appealing when he turned 37. As a result, big names like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain flatly refused to here him.
He only had an attractive offer from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia. Despite this, Ronaldo still wants to continue to play at the top level in Europe.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorgen Mendes is in active discussions with Atletico officials. Furthermore, he and Ronaldo attempted to persuade coach Simeone to open his transfer arms.
However, pesident Enrique Cerezo said Atletico had no idea with Ronaldo. Instead, the club continued to build a future with Joko Felix.
Ronaldo missed United’s pre-season tour this summer due to personal reasons, and thus missed the opportunity to face former teammate Nani, who played for Melbourne Victory on Friday in a 4-1 win over Erik tenHag’s side.
“I hope [he will stay at United]. He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference. I hope he’s in a good mood to help the club.” Nani said.
“I tried to talk to him but when he’s on vacation he doesn’t answer the phone. He said, ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.”Nani added.
It was also reported on Sunday that Sporting Lisbon is ready to bring CR7 back to the club. Ronaldo, on the other hand, used his personal Twitter account to claim that the information was faked.
