In an epic duel between Stephen Curry and Victor Wembanyama, the point guard came out on top and led the Golden State Warriors to victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

The victory guaranteed some relief for the California team, which is fighting round after round with the Houston Rockets for tenth place in the West.

However, the match was not easy at all for the visiting team. After all, with a slow-paced Stephen Curry, the Warriors started behind in the first quarter against Wembanyama’s Spurs.

The number 30 hit just one three-pointer at ten minutes, plus two more points. Even so, the match remained balanced until the middle of the period.

From then on, the Texan team grew in the clash and opened up 13 points. In the end, Klay Thompson and Chris Paul reduced the disadvantage to seven points. Thus, the Spurs finished the quarter winning by 34 to 27.

In the second half, the Warriors came back better. Thus, they managed to reduce the difference to just one point, at eight minutes.

However, it didn’t take long for the Spurs to regain control of the scoreboard.

In the final minute, the home team then opened up ten points again, until Draymond Green scored and reduced the opponent’s advantage to eight. Thus, the first half ended in 60 to 52 for the Spurs.

Finally, in the third quarter, Warriors and Curry showed their strength and managed to turn against the Spurs. He was responsible for nine points in the period and reached 21 in the game.

With that, after the middle of the quarter, the visiting team opened 11 points ahead on the scoreboard.

From there, they just had to control the game to close with an eight-point advantage. With that, the game reached the final period in 89 to 81 for the Warriors.

Finally, in the decisive minutes, each team had their moments of brilliance. At first, the Spurs managed to put together a good sequence and reduced the difference to just four points.

However, it didn’t take long for the Warriors to regain dominance and continued with a comfortable lead for most of the quarter.

In the final two minutes, however, Wembanyama seemed to surpass Curry, to lead the Spurs against the Warriors.

After all, the center scored eight points in the decisive moment and kept the home team’s hopes alive. Even so, with a free throw from Green, the Warriors ended with the victory.
