Darwin Nunez Plays Well, Could Be the Key to Liverpool Winning the Premier League!

Could Darwin Nunez be Liverpool’s key player to win the Premier League this season? In fact, Darwin performed brilliantly in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield last week.

Nunez, who scored the opening goal in the match, has now proven himself to be a vital asset for The Reds. His goal was his second in the league this season, and he has also provided one assist.

Tony Cascarino, talkSPORT presenter, believes that Nunez’s contribution will be a key factor for Liverpool in the title race.

“I was very critical of Darwin Nunez last year. I felt if Liverpool were going to win the league last year, Darwin Nunez had to be more lethal in the finishing,” said Cascarino

Last year Cascarino was harshly critical, but now his view is different. He sees Nunez as a new weapon under Arne Slot. Nunez brings a new dimension to Liverpool’s game

“If he can score goals, at least 15 plus goals a season, Liverpool can win the league,” continued Cascarino

“He’s a player that everyone likes, including the professionals I’ve met. They all say the same thing, they really like Nunez.”

Nunez has started just four league games this season, with four more coming off the bench. But he has shown his clinical prowess, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

“He has pace, he never stops running, even if he misses chances. I do the same,” added Cascarino.

“But I also know that if Darwin Nunez can score goals, Liverpool can win more games because he has a lot of attributes in his game.”

The win over Aston Villa means Liverpool are now five points clear at the top of the Premier League. Arne Slot’s side have lost just once in the league and have dropped four points in their opening 11 games.

Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate believes Nunez’s goal against Aston Villa will be a turning point for the striker.

The 25-year-old has shown plenty of potential and has produced some brilliant moments.

“I’m very happy for him and he has to keep going, keep fighting and I’m sure he’ll score more goals,” said Konate.

Despite not being at his best, Nunez continues to have the full backing of Arne Slot.

That support is likely to continue after the international break, when Liverpool return to action against Southampton on November 24.

“You just have to look at our results – we started the season very well. But I don’t want to put too much pressure on him,” Konate added.

“I know he’s a perfectionist, but it’s only the start of the season, we just have to work hard and keep improving every day. At the end of the season, we’ll see what impact he’s had on us.”
