Miami is one of the most popular cities in the United Stated. The city hosts several franchies in different leagues ranging from the NBA to the MLB.
One of those franchises is Inter Miami, an MLS franchise founded by English Premier League football icon David Beckham.
In 2022, another sport will take place in ‘The Magic City’. And this is none other than Formula 1, since the Miami Grand Prix will take place for the first time at Hard Rock Stadium.
As construction of the new track is in full swing, Miami Grand Prix manager Tom Garfinkel spoke of Beckham’s interest in attending the race.
Garfinkel spoke with Sky Sports recently where he revealed different aspects of the upcoming Miami Grand Prix. Among those aspects, he admitted the conversation he had with Beckham while revealing his interest in attending next year’s race.
“It’s a funny story. David and I have a mutual friend who called and said David would like to meet me and get involved in Formula 1 racing.” Garfinkel said.
“So we had dinner last week. David is very excited to attend the event. He can’t wait to come to Miami for the F1 race.” Garfinkel added.
Garfinkel also admitted that he had phoned calls from several other celebrities outside of Beckham. Therefore, he can’t wait to see the race embrace Miami’s celebrity culture.
“We have received many calls from various celebrities, friends, wealthy and influential people, all of whom have expressed great interest in coming,” Garfinkel said.
“I anticipate that many celebrities from all over the world will attend this event. There is a great celebrity culture in Miami.” Garfinkel added.
With the track located in the thrilling environment of Miami Gardens, F1 fans can expect the race to be pure entertainment. The Miami Grand Prix will take place on May 8, 2022.
