David Krejci Is Keen to Return to Boston Bruins

David Krejci has only one option when David Krejci decided to return to the NHL after a year in the Czech Republic.

Krejci has insisted to re-sign with the Boston Bruins by fellow countryman David Pastrnak and Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron, who also decided to stay with the team for another season. The three players are all on the same page when it comes to winning the Stanley Cup.

“I said to my agent, ‘You have to make the deal. Do what you have to do, but come to some common ground’. I want to be a member of the Boston Bruins next season,” Krejci said.

“Obviously there was a plan B, but I didn’t want to take that option. I didn’t want to play anywhere else. I’m so happy to be a Bruins member again.” Krejci added.

Krecji led Bruins in regular season and playoff points in the 2011 season en route to a Stanley Cup victory. The Bruins also made it to the Finals in 2013 and 2019.

“We’re back to try and push. I’m not sure how many years we have left as a band, but we keep coming back because we believe in this team.” Krejci said.

Krejci spent the last season in the Czech Republic so his children could live in their homeland and bond with their grandparents. He led Olomouc HC with 20 goals and 26 assists in 51 matches.

The 36-year-old centre admitted he stayed in touch with his Bruins teammates and saw several of them at Tuukka Rask’s wedding in June. He won bronze with Pastrnak, who described him as “one of the best players on the planet”, at the World Championship in Finland.

“It was a turning point in my thinking about coming back to the NHL. To play with him [Pastrnak] and see what we can still do together was really fun.” Krejci said.
