Debut of the Young MU player Marked by His Mother’s Tears

His mother’s tears marked the debut of Manchester United young player, Teden Mengi. However, it is a happy & proud tears. Teden Mengi is a defender who graduated from the Man United academy who is currently only 18 years old.

He got the chance to debut when Man United won 2-1 over LASK Linz in the Europa League last 16 second leg. In the match that took place at Old Trafford Stadium on Thursday (6/8/2020), Teden Mengi entered in the 84th minute, replacing Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Teden Mengi appeared quite impressive during his debut. He managed one tackle and a pass accuracy of 83 percent. After the match, Teden Mengi expressed joy while thanking the Man United coaching staff led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“I want to thank the academy staff as well as the manager for giving me the opportunity,” Teden Mengi told MUTV. “This is just the beginning. Furthermore, it depends on myself to continue to grow. I am very happy,” he added.

The Manchester-born defender also did not forget to thank his family and team-mates who always provide support. “It’s a great feeling. I also want to thank everyone around me. My family, my teammates, they have made things easy,” said Teden Mengi.

Furthermore, Teden Mengi said that appearing with Man United’s main squad is a dream he has been waiting for for a long time. He felt lucky after getting the opportunity. “Everyone dreams of this moment (debuting with Man United). This is everyone’s dream, representing one of the biggest clubs in the world. Luckily, I got the opportunity today, and I’m very happy,” he said.

Teden Mengi’s debut then brought emotional moment to his mother, who could only watch her son’s appearance from a distance. Teden Mengi said that the mother cried after seeing him entering the field wearing a proud jersey of The Red Devils, nicknamed Man United.

“My mother said that she was crying. It’s a shame she’s not here, but this is an unforgettable moment in my life. It’s just a start,” said Teden Mengi. The player who currently wore jersey no 71 has played in U-16, U-18 and U-23 teams before making his senior debut.
